He uses his last ounce of strength to open up the portal to The World That Never Was. Axel appears, fights alongside Sora, and then sacrifices himself. When the heroes are on the way to The World That Never Was, they are overwhelmed by Heartless. Axel then tries to kidnap Kairi in order to draw out Sora. Later on, Riku tasks Axel with protecting Namine. He disappears, abandoning his mission and telling Roxas they will meet again in the next life. Axel encounters Roxas again and realizes he isn't the same person he was friends with and that he will have to kill him.Īxel fights Roxas one last time and loses again. He encounters Roxas in the digital world but loses and gets kicked out. Near the end of the game, he is shown in his room where he finds the winner popsicle stick left by Roxas.Īxel has forgotten about Xion in Kingdom Hearts 2. After Roxas leaves Organization XIII, Axel encounters Xion and captures her. When Xion disappears, Axel and Roxas begin to search for her. Axel later learns the truth of Xion and hides it from Roxas to protect him. Axel quickly becomes friends with the two and they eat ice cream together often. When Axel returns from Castle Oblivion, he finds Roxas and new member Xion are now meeting up on the Clocktower.
Soon after meeting, Axel is sent off to Castle Oblivion for the events of Chain of Memories. The two gather often after daily missions at the top of the Clocktower to eat ice cream.
When Roxas joins Organization XIII at the start of 358/2 Days, Axel is tasked with being his mentor. He helps the replica of Riku to defeat Zexion. He loses the fight to Sora and disappears. He then reveals he has also betrayed Marluxia but before they fight, Sora appears. He allies himself with Larxene and Marluxia, disposing of Vexen in the process.Īxel allows Namine to meet with Sora. He is the first member of Organization XIII for Sora to meet. He cares about his friends even if he hides it sometimes.Īxel is sent to Castle Oblivion alongside Vexen, Lexaeus, Zexion, Larxene, and Marluxia. He is sarcastic and without a care in the world at times. His friendship with Roxas and Xion change him, though. He also has no problem betraying when necessary.
